CSX Lurgan Sub Cab Ride

Enjoy a cab ride over the CSX's Lurgan Sub-Division from just east of Lurgan to CSX's Hagerstown Yard. This former piece of the Western Maryland Railroad, known as the "Alphabet Route", was an important interchange point with the former Reading Railroad.

Today Conrail and CSX interchange at Lurgan with mixed freight and coal traffic just as the Reading and Western Maryland did years before. Our cab ride is on a SD40-2 Conrail locomotive with mixed freight interchanging with CSX.

The trip will take us by old "GN" tower at Lurgan, street running through Chambersburg, PA, and left hand running between Brandon and Conboy. Our train climbs a 1.10% grade for two miles beginning at Brandon.

Color-Sound--90 Minutes

GT Cab Ride-Springfield to Cincinnati

Climb aboard Grand Trunk train #216 (an all trailer van train) powered by an ex-Rock Island GP38-2 for a cab ride from Springfield, Ohio (Maitland) to Cincinnati (CSX Queensgate Yard).

The Grand Trunk gained trackage rights over former Erie-Lackawanna rail from Maitland to Cold Springs and then Conrail tracks all the way to Cincinnati. You'll pass through locations such as Fairborn, Dayton, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Carlisle, Middletown, Maud Hill, Sharon Yard, Elmwood Place, and Queensgate Yard.

This video is of historical significance since this GT trailer train was annulled several years ago. Also the Grand Trunk no longer operates from Detroit to Cincinnati. Parent company Canadian National North America spun off the former Flat Rock subdivision to the Indiana & Ohio Railroad which is now owned by Railtex.

This video is 80 minutes long including 10 minutes of previews. Full color and sound. A map of the area covered as well as onscreen graphics keeps the viewer informed of locations.

Conrail Cab Ride-Mail 3

This cab ride begins at South Kearny, NJ and ends at Harrisburg Yard. The video was made in cooperation with the Consolidated Rail Corporation and was shot in the winter of 1997/1998.

Mail-3 receives the highest priority. All other trains must wait for this “hot” train. Mail-3 travels over the Passaic and Harsimus, Lehigh, Reading, and Harrisburg Lines.

Travel through the Musconetcong Tunnel and see trains of the New Jersey Transit, Canadian Pacific, and Conrail. Watch the train receive orders from a temporary block station at Sheridan on the Harrisburg Line.

80 minutes of exciting and exclusive cab ride action. Full color and sound with location graphics and train symbols superimposed on the screen.

Chicago Metra Cab Ride

Travel with Neff Video aboard a Metra Suburban Commuter Train in September of 1996.
The trip is broken down into two parts. First we’ll climb aboard the control car and head into Chicago Union Station and pick-up passengers for a run to Congress Park and back.

Upon return to Chicago Union we move our camera location to the head-end of the same train and board a EMD F40PHM-2 locomotive. This time our trip will take us on a twilight run to the end of the line at Aurora, Illinois.

One hour, full color, sound, and no narration.

Cab Ride on the I&O

Climb aboard the diesel cab of an Indiana & Ohio GP30, former Nickle Plate engine, and enjoy the view of the railroad as a train crew would see it.

This event was sponsored by the West Central Ohio Model Railroad Club, Inc., of Sidney, Ohio. The purpose of the trip was a Fall railroad passenger excursion from Lima, Ohio to Springfield, Ohio and return. The trip was held on Saturday, October 13, and again on Sunday, October 14, 2001

Neff Video was given permission to capture the trip on video from the cab from Ford Park (Lima) to Springfield Yard (Springfield). You’ll see the entire line of the 70 mile trip that includes the towns of Uniopolis, St. Johns, Jackson Center where we will meet a northbound train, Maplewood, Quincy including the High Bridge Trestle north of town, Rosewood, St. Paris, Thackery, Tremont and finally Springfield.
