We capture CSX in the Autumn of 2002 at two noteworthy areas of the railroad. We first spend time on Sand Patch Grade in a scenic area of Pennsylvania. We see a number of trains at locations on the east and west slopes as well as on Sand Patch Summit. There was even a derailment of a train and you can hear the radio chatter about it. The train was later re-railed and we see it head for Cumberland, Fast work!!
Our second location is the scenic Hudson River Valley in New York State. We see a number of CSX freights among the scenic autumn foliage, the majority of trains seen here are Metro North and Amtrak trains. The paint schemes on these locomotives were normal at this time as the MN and Amtrak schemes have evolved. Today these paint schemes you see in the video have been brought back as Heritage schemes. This area, with busy tracks on both sides of the river is a USA version of the Rhine River in Germany.
