Whats better than a Railroad Hot-Spot to enjoy lots of train action?
How about 5 locations instead of one!! Travel to eastern Illinois and enjoy great mainline railroading at Watseka, Gilman, Tolono, Sidney, and Tuscola. Each location features multiple railroads and either a diamond crossing or a line crossing over another railroad.
Watseka features Union Pacific and CSX operations crossing the former TP&W (now Rail America) on a diamond. You will also see an RS11 switching a local grain elevator, and foreign power on the mainline including CN, Conrail, and Wisconsin Central. Canadian National on the former Illinois Central Railroad highlights action at the Gilman diamond, which also features Rail America, and Amtrak trains.
Tolono continues the CN mainline action and crosses the busy Norfolk Southern line to Decatur. Further east is Sidney where the same NS line crosses over the Union Pacific's former C&El line from Chicago to St. Louis.
Another diamond ls visited at Tuscola where we see CN's line crossing the Union Pacific, and CSX line. Many Illinois Central units are seen as well as Canadian National on those routes. Amtrak is also seen at Tuscola and Gilman.
This video contains a great variety of locations and trains, and in some cases there is two-camera coverage.
